The attacks came as Israel’s military has been pounding an area just outside the Lebanese capital with some of the heaviest waves of bombardment in months.

Israel on Saturday launched airstrikes on the Beirut suburb, the latest such bombardment on the area, a stronghold of the Lebanese Iran-backed Hezbollah militia. The strikes targeted Haret Hreik, part of the suburb known as Dahieh,

The Hezbollah militant group has a strong presence in central Beirut, known as the Dahiyeh, and the strikes came as Lebanese officials are considering a U.S.-brokered cease-fire proposal.
