The death toll from last week ’ s severe weather in Kentucky has risen to 21, Gov. Andy Beshear announced Saturday. The state was hit with deadly flooding amid freezing temperatures last weekend, which continued to devastate the central Plains as another storm system brought more heavy snow and wind.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said five more Kentuckians have died as a result of the severe weather the Commonwealth experienced this week. That means 20 Kentuckians have died from the weather. He said the most recent deaths were in Warren, Pike, Caldwell, Ohio and Morgan Counties.

The latest deaths reported include a Caldwell County man, a Morgan County woman, an Ohio County man, a Pike County man and a woman from Warren County, Beshear announced in a social media post Friday night, though in a few cases the official cause of death was not yet known.
