Elon Musk has weighed in on the possibility of President Donald Trump issuing a pardon to Ghislaine Maxwell, the imprisoned associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The Justice Department is allowed to seek sentencing reductions after sentences are handed down, but it might have a hard time doing so in Maxwell’s case.
"Not my decision, but I have great pause about that as any reasonable person would," Johnson said on NBC's Meet the Press.
Maxwell was also subpoenaed by the Republican-controlled House Oversight Committee for a deposition that her attorney said is expected to occur the week of Aug. 11. Trump previously told reporters last week, regarding a potential pardon for Maxwell, that he is "allowed to do it, but it's something I have not thought about."
The House speaker said in an interview with "Meet the Press" he would have "great pause" about any commutation for the former Jeffrey Epstein associate.
