JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- A mother with a baby fatally shot a suspected home invader in the south suburbs on Friday night, police said. Joliet police said officers responded to a report of a home invasion in the 7000-block of Hadrian Drive around 10:30 p.m.

JOLIET - A small plane made an emergency landing in Joliet on Thursday afternoon, prompting a police response. The single-engine Piper PA-18 Super Cub aircraft landed in a grassy area of McDonough Street and Infantry Drive after experiencing an apparent mechanical malfunction on Thursday at 5:14 p.m., according to Joliet police.

The suspect who was shot and killed by a woman during a home invasion on Friday night was identified. The Will County Coroner identified the man as 36-year-old Shelby Hurd.

He was the one to exit the store with the merchandise without paying, Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English announced.

Two juveniles were injured after a crash involving a semitruck in Joliet on Saturday, according to Joliet Police.
