Demonstrators at No Kings protests around the U.S. dressed up as frogs and other animals. Many said they were trying to counter the GOP narrative that they are radical leftists who hate America.
A group called Operation Inflation handed out more than 100 free inflatable costumes. Nearby, a man in a blow-up eagle suit said Amazon had sold out of the frog variety.
According to the Portland office of the weather service, about 52% of Halloweens are wet. The average amount of rainfall is about 0.21 inches. The last time Halloween was dry was in 2023. Ten years ago (in 2015) a plume of tropical moisture pounded Portland on Halloween night flooding MAX trains and causing all sorts of traffic nightmares.
A viral Portland Frog inspired this organization to raise money and give protesters inflatable costumes free of charge.
Following Portland's example, demonstrators at No Kings protests around the U.S. donned inflatable costumes to counter the Republican narrative that the events are hate-filled and un-American.
Images of anarchists clad in black gave the city a bad name in 2020. Now, demonstrators in Portland are poking fun at President Trump’s apocalyptic talk with colorful animal suits.
