Alabama elections 2026: Amendments would change bail and salary laws

In 2021, an amendment was passed that states after Oct. 1, 2021, newly elected or appointed district attorneys would start at a salary of $140,000, which can increase upon each reelection by 7.5%, which is an amount that the law saws "shall be adjusted to reflect any cost-of-living adjustment."
