A majority of the justices sided with Alabama in a move that could speed up efforts to put in place a congressional district map that would eliminate a majority-Black district.

Governor Kay Ivey is calling for a special election on August 11 after the Supreme Court tossed a 2023 ruling in Alabama’s congressional redistricting case and sent it back to lower courts.
