Hundreds protesting outside downtown Minneapolis hotel where ICE agents are believed to be staying
MINNEAPOLIS — Hundreds of people are protesting in downtown Minneapolis outside a hotel they believe ICE agents are staying at. It comes amid a surge of more than 2,000 federal agents in the Twin Cities in recent days. On Wednesday, 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent in South Minneapolis.
The Department of Homeland Security confirms the victim in Wednesday's shooting has died. On social media, the department claims ICE officers were conducting "targeted operations" in Minneapolis when rioters began blocking them and a woman tried running over them with her vehicle, calling it an act of domestic terrorism.
Some schools are closed on Friday due to ongoing ICE activity in the Twin Cities metro, meanwhile additional anti-ICE protests are planned Friday after the fatal shooting of Renee Good earlier this week.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said Sunday there is “deep mistrust” in the objectivity of the federal government’s investigation into the shooting of 37-year-old Renee Good because Trump administration officials have already come to conclusions.
