Despite the large number of appointments, only 600 people have downloaded the practice test app on iPhones, iPads and Android phones to help people study, the DMV said.

All drivers have been required to take the test once their license expires after turning 70, which has been a policy but not a law, according to DMV Director Steve Gordon.

The Wisconsin DMV has launched free, online driver's license practice tests. The tool gives drivers a chance to repare and test their knowledge.

DMV Commissioner Everett Frazier recently announced more than 80,000 knowledge tests have been taken online through the division’s online services portal since its inception in Feb. 2021.

Wisconsin DMV joins eleven other states in providing this online option through KnowTo Drive, DMV’s contracted knowledge test vendor.
