(Gray News) – Toys ‘R’ Us is launching nearly 30 new stores nationwide just in time for holiday shopping. The iconic toy store is unveiling eight new flagship locations and 20 seasonal holiday shops across the country.
Toys ‘R’ Us is making its return to Wichita with a flagship store at Towne East Square. In 2018, Wichita lost its last Toys ‘R’ Us storefront in Eastgate Plaza after the chain filed for bankruptcy, closing nearly 180 stores.
Seven new flagship stores, including a location at Tanger Outlets Deer Park, and more than a dozen seasonal holiday shops will be opening.
Here are five nostalgic, standout memories from Toys R Us on Long Island, where there were retail stores in Valley Stream, Riverhead, Lake Grove, Huntington Station, Holbrook, Commack, Bohemia, Bay Shore, Deer Park, Shirley, Massapequa, Massapequa Park, Oceanside, Hicksville, Carle Place and Westbury.
The retailer declared bankruptcy and left town seven years ago. Wichita is among eight markets where it plans to try again.
