Ohio State coach Ryan Day handed Sayin the job following a spirited competition with junior Lincoln Kienholz and freshman Tavien St. Clair. Sayin, measuring in at 6-foot-1 and 208 pounds, backed up Will Howard last season, mostly appearing in mop-up duty.
Urban Meyer didn’t hold back on Sayin. He praised the 20-year-old quarterback’s ability with “it’s magic when it comes out of his hand.” Meyer stopped short of anointing him, but he conveyed confidence that Sayin has the tools and the mindset to grow into elite territory early in his career.
