The Notre Dame football program will have a new team-specific logo for the upcoming 2025 college football season.
In an offseason dominated by discussion about quarterback competition, Marcus Freeman has stayed consistent in his trust-based coaching mentality.
Notre Dame is no longer trying to bend the soul of college football to its will. It's focused on competing for titles every single year.
Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman has named second-year quarterback CJ Carr his starting quarterback over Kenny Minchey for the season opener against Miami
Notre Dame is ranked No.6 in the AP Top 25 entering this season. On Wednesday, the team named redshirt freshman CJ Carr as its starting quarterback for the upcoming campaign. He beat out sophomore Kenny Minchey in this offseason's quarterback competition and will now succeed last year's starter Riley Leonard as the new leader of the offense.
The most decorated Irish QB recruit in years emerged from a battle that sources said appeared to be trending toward Minchey in recent days.
“Everybody loves the thought of being named a captain and being chosen by their teammates, but not everybody really wants to lead,” Freeman said. “It’s important that our captains are leaders. They’re expected to solve problems. They’re expected to make decisions that maybe their teammates and their brothers don’t like.”
