Bills defender refused cart after devastating Achilles tear because he ‘wanted to see the game’
Joey Bosa calls Hoecht's injury a "massive loss" to Buffalo's defense that had pressured Patrick Mahomes on 52% of his dropbacks in Sunday's win.
Bills coach Sean McDermott confirmed that defensive end Michael Hoecht tore his Achilles on Sunday afternoon. "It's a big loss," McDermott said, via Katherine Fitzgerald of the Buffalo News. Hoecht was injured on a non-contact play as his right leg gave out as he pushed off at the snap with 14:20 remaining in the fourth quarter.
That being said, here's a look at four players the Bills could target as potential replacements at the NFL trade deadline. Buffalo could decide to go with a true defensive tackle, which would not only help replace Hoecht, but also Ed Oliver as well. That's why Sebastian Joseph-Day is someone to keep an eye on.
Making his first start in Week 8, the Buffalo Bills finally saw what defensive end Michael Hoecht brings to the team. And what a start it was. Now the question is if he can keep bringing similar heat in Week 9 against quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
