The NYC area is bracing for a major winter storm that's set to hit the region with heavy snow on top of dangerous, subfreezing weather.

A powerful winter storm is expected to bring up to 16 inches of snow and frigid temperatures to the NYC area, including parts of NJ and CT, this weekend.

The final path of the storm remains uncertain, but some models are predicting a lot of snow in the city, and the warnings have already begun.

The New York City area could see anywhere from 10 to 14 inches of snow this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

New York City subways and buses will keep running throughout the weekend snowstorm, the MTA said. NJ Transit, however, warned of possible suspensions.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Friday assured New Yorkers the city is ready for its first major snowstorm in years, promising plowed streets and, if needed, a remote school day for public school students on Monday.
