The Islanders advance to play the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Final, with Game 1 of that best-of-7 series at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Monday (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, CBC, TVAS).

On top of timing being a concern, the Islanders also had to deal with Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, who had two series-clinching shutouts under his belt this postseason heading into Game 7.

Halfway through Game 7, and Tampa is playing exactly the kind of game a team needs to play to beat the Islanders. They're not cheating for offense, they're not taking unnecessary risks.

The Islanders fell to 4-6 all-time in Game 7s, 4-5 on the road. It was first Game 7 the team has played in the semifinal round since facing Philadelphia in 1975.
