Julio César Chávez Jr. was arrested in the U.S. for overstaying his visa and lying on a green card application.

Boxer Julio César Chávez Jr. was deported from the United States and entered a prison in the northern Mexico state of Sonora, according to the country's national arrest registry. Chávez had been arrested in the U.S. in July and Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed on Tuesday, Aug. 19 that the 39-year-old had been deported to Mexico.
