It is the first deployment under an agreement that Google and Kairos signed last year to the launch the startup's nuclear technology at a commercial scale.

The Tennessee Valley Authority agreed to buy electricity from a small nuclear power plant that’s expected to go into service in 2030 and will help power data centers owned by Alphabet Inc.’s Google.

Google is partnering with Kairos Power to build its first nuclear reactor, Hermes 2, in Tennessee, supplying 50 MW of clean energy to its data centers by 2030.
