Iga Swiatek made an amusing remark after the US Open mixed doubles match with Casper Ruud. The Pole and the Norwegian played a Grand Slam mixed doubles for the first time because of the revamped format.

Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud secured a tight 3-5, 5-3, [10-8] victory over Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper to advance to the final of the US Open mixed doubles.

The U.S. Open’s largest court was packed for the final three matches of the reimagined mixed doubles tournament Wednesday night, which was made up of mainly top singles players for the first time.

Iga Swiatek called out Casper Ruud after they booked their spot in Wednesday night’s US Open mixed doubles semi-final. The world No. 2 was in doubt to compete in the revamped tournament, winning her Cincinnati Open final the night before she was due to take to the court in Flushing Meadows.

With Iga Swiatek by his side in the 2025 US Open mixed doubles, Casper Ruud etched his name into ATP history. The Norwegian is now the only active male player to reach the quarterfinals of singles, doubles, and mixed doubles at a Grand Slam event.

On Monday night, Iga Swiatek won the Cincinnati Open. On Tuesday, she played two U.S. Open doubles matches in New York City.

Swiatek then explained: "That's not possible because when your agent asked my agent, I think, or you asked me, I had no idea what I'm signing up for. I was like, 'Yeah okay, I want to play with Casper.' But I didn't know what the tournament is going to look like so it must've been you."
