Central Texas has seen about a 20% increase in the amount of rain falling in the heaviest events since 1970, a trend mirrored across the US and globally, according to Kristina Dahl, vice president for science at Climate Central, a non-profit, independent science organization.

K err County Sheriff Larry Leitha said in a press conference Sunday morning that, as of 9 a.m., 59 people have died in the catastrophic flooding stemming from a storm early Friday morning in Kerrville, Texas. Of the 59 victims, 38 are adults including 18 unidentified, and 21 are children including four unidentified.
