For the 42nd year, the satirical Doo Dah Parade kicked off at 1 p.m. July 4 at Park Street and Buttles Avenue, stretching from Goodale Park into Victorian Village.

Before Doo Dah, many businesses in the Short North would close on July 4 because of the lack of business. Now, many businesses remain open, and Roberts credits the parade as part of the reason.

The Doo Dah, where “no roses are harmed in the making of this parade," returns to its original route in Old Pasadena on Sunday, Nov. 19. On Sunday, it crowned its queen.
