The Phoenix Police Department has identified a man who died after a shooting involving officers early Tuesday morning near 19th and Northern avenues.

The man was identified by police as Rocky Joe Ellis, 47, in a news release issued on Aug. 20. The shooting was first reported by Phoenix police on social media around 5 a.m., near 19th and Northern avenues.
